Ruth has always been a crafter - and one that loves to pass on her love for creating. She trained as a clothing designer in the UK, working with textiles and fashion warehouses. When she came to Australia she graduated from Box Hill TAFE with a Diploma of Visual Arts and then completed a Bachelor of Adult Learning and Development at Monash University.
She has taught art and crafts at a tertiary level and also through community education programs, some in very remote areas. She strongly believes in the need to facilitate opportunities for creative workshops in rural and regional communities. She knows first hand that people in these areas often don't often get the chance to participate in events like these, and being able to explore creativity in a supportive, safe space is an essential part of life.
She has recently produced Finding Form with Fibre a beautiful sculptural basketry book to set creators off on a journey of exploration of plants to create their own work developing their own ideas. https://www.craftschooloz.com/about-the-book
