Testimonials

I bought both the slow stitching and textile basket course - I love everything about Ruth’s teaching style, the video technique looking over her shoulder that enables me to see the stitches as I am doing them. Being able to revisit and revise at my own pace and in my own time has been so helpful.

Thanks

Sue

I really love these online workshops. I live in a small country town so there is no opportunity to attend craft classes. The information is in chapters, very easy to watch and learn from, and I can revisit it as many times as I need to.

I’ve attended an in-person workshop with Ruth from Craft School Oz and also used four of the online workshops that she offers - all have been fantastic. Ruth is a great teacher. I highly recommend Craft School Oz to anyone wanting to learn some new crafting skills.

I really enjoy CraftSchoolOz workshops. I had no prior knowledge but they are clear, instructional and fun. Ruth is a great teacher and her classes are easy to follow and it’s so rewarding to see the end result. I love how you can make baskets from anything and it’s a very forgiving craft. basket making has become so important in my life thanks to CraftSchoolOz.

Ruth has always been a crafter - and one that loves to pass on her love for creating. She trained as a clothing designer in the UK, working with textiles and fashion warehouses. When she came to Australia she graduated from Box Hill TAFE with a Diploma of Visual Arts and then completed a Bachelor of Adult Learning and Development at Monash University.

She has taught art and crafts at a tertiary level and also through community education programs, some in very remote areas. She strongly believes in the need to facilitate opportunities for creative workshops in rural and regional communities. She knows first hand that people in these areas often don't often get the chance to participate in events like these, and being able to explore creativity in a supportive, safe space is an essential part of life.

She has recently produced Finding Form with Fibre a beautiful sculptural basketry book to set creators off on a journey of exploration of plants to create their own work developing their own ideas. https://www.craftschooloz.com/about-the-book
